I have always loved photography and when I took my first photojournalism class I knew I wanted to be a photographer. Everyone assumed I would work with animals, yet from a young age I would make my sister model for me while I took pictures of her, so looking back, it has definitely been something I've always done.
​
When I'm not holding a camera, I can be found at home, on my couch, under a nice toasty blanket, usually with a cup of coffee and a salty snack. I always have a candle going and I'm probably binging a TV series I've seen a million times already.
I am very confident behind the camera, but put me in front and I get SO AWKWARD! What do do with my hands, where do I look, is this really a prompt I make my clients do?? Basically - I get how awkward and uncomfortable it can feel! I have been a photographer for almost 10 years and I have learned so many tips and tricks to take an awkward situation and bring life and fun into it.
I CAN'T IMAGINE DOING ANYTHING ELSE
I have a photojournalism and studio background. I LOVE being able to combine these two-standard portraits with real life moments. I never hesitate to encourage and snap those unexpected shots, like laughter, tickle fights and dancing breaks. Those moments make for exceptional and cherished memories. Although, I will say I am fairly skilled at getting a toddler to sit still and smile for the camera!
I LOVE WORKING WITH PEOPLE WHO
don't take things so seriously
I am all about kids being kids and having fun. My sessions and poses will not always be perfect. Sometimes the kids will not sit still or they're not wanting to do a pose or even put on the clothes you have picked out. I like to let the kids lead and I always like to remind parents that you will have so many "smile at the camera" shots, but I can guarantee you will look back on these "imperfect" photos of your family and cherish the personality captured.

My mother shares a story of taking my brother to his yearly studio session and he refused to wear the outfit she wanted and he wanted to wear his own outfit. She eventually caved and they showed up in his totally mismatched clothing and they are now some of her favorite photos.

I will show up to your session and feel like a friend because when the walls come down, that's when the most authentic moments and photos happen. I will be your own personal cheerleader telling you how to pose, getting everyone to laugh, fixing any flyaways or untucked shirts. You will see me running around, getting on the ground, and doing whatever silly and ridiculous thing I have in store for us to make this experience FUN and memorable.
